Multiple options: Central European Studies with core course on the political and cultural history of East Central Europe; with relevant traveling seminar.; Czech language; 3 electives; Service learning option. Jewish Studies with core course in modern Jewish history; week-long traveling seminar. European Economies Economics courses appropriate for Bates transfer. Caution on any business courses, with no more than one approved for Bates. CET scholarships are available.

At FAMU. Two Core courses in Narrative Film: Pre-Production and Post Production; electives at FAMU. Larger program than the CIEE Film program. Fall: documentary or narrative film project; opportunity to attend Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival. Spring: narrative only.

For students who have an interest in the Czech Republic and Central Europe, as well as in the political, social, and/or economic transformation from state control to democratic market-based systems. The home stay is strongly recommended as the best option for immersion in Czech culture. Czech "buddy" system in apartments. Dorm not an option. Large program. Must take Czech language. Students are encouraged to apply for CIEE scholarships.

Two tracks: film production or screenwriting; theoretical and practical instruction. Previous coursework and portfolio required. Based at FAMU -- one of the leading film schools in Europe. Czech language. Small program limited to 20 participants. Apartments with CIEE students and a Czech buddy from the FAMU program. Students are encouraged to apply for CIEE scholarships.
