For students who have an interest in the Czech Republic and Central Europe, as well as in the political, social, and/or economic transformation from state control to democratic market-based systems. The home stay is strongly recommended as the best option for immersion in Czech culture. Czech “buddy” system in apartments. Dorm not an option. Large program. Must take Czech language. Students are encouraged to apply for CIEE scholarships.

Two tracks: film production or screenwriting; theoretical and practical instruction. Previous coursework and portfolio required. Based at FAMU — one of the leading film schools in Europe. Czech language. Small program limited to 20 participants. Apartments with CIEE students and a Czech buddy from the FAMU program. Students are encouraged to apply for CIEE scholarships.

Courses on Public Health and traditional Chilean medical practice; language course in Spanish for Health Sciences; independent study project. Academic excursion to Tacna, Peru. Migration & Transnational Identities; academic excursions throughout Morocco and to the Netherlands to study Moroccan migration to Europe; independent study project or internship (with independent study component). Modern Standard Arabic course with a shorter period devoted to colloquial Moroccan Arabic. Knowledge of French useful. Cosmopolitan setting in a diverse country. Area studies courses in English at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa; Portuguese language. Smaller cosmopolitan city with layers of Roman and Islamic history; fewer Americans. Students are encouraged to apply for CIEE scholarships.

Tropical, Pacific island in transition; anthropology and sociology; independent study project. Students live in housing with host country students at University of the South Pacific; 10 day rural home stay. Excursions to Fiji and American Samoa.
