Ocean and coastal studies program that integrates marine ecology, oceanography, history, literature, and policy. Immersive academic experience combined with community-focused living. Based out of the Mystic Seaport Museum where students live and learn maritime skills. Travel components include: 10-day sailing trip and two field seminars to various locations such as the Gulf Coast and Pacific Coast. Introduction to a series of maritime skills. Excellent academics & peer group; 10-day sailing trip; Gulf of Mexico and Pacific Coast field seminars. Fall semester weather preferable for outdoor activities and labs. Williams-Mystic scholarships are available.
Course selection: all students take 4 courses; all students take literature, history, policy, and one of two science courses (marine ecology or oceanographic processes).
