Bates College 2010 NEASC Accreditation Timeline

Fall 2008: President and 4 appointed faculty/staff attend NEASC Self Study workshop

May 2009: Faculty co-chairs for Accreditation Committee appointed

Fall 2009: Standards groups appointed and begin work on self-study text related to their standards (for more information on committee structure and membership, please see the committee webpage); Office of Institutional Research and 
Assessment Support compiles and distributes data for standards groups



November 2009: NEASC staff representative visits campus to meet with President, faculty co-chairs, and Accreditation
 Committee members



December 2009: 2010 Accreditation website launches

Mid- February 2010: Standards groups submit preliminary text of working draft for each section of self study; Faculty co-chairs
 compile material and add introduction and institutional overview

February 26, 2010: Working draft of self study to NEASC for review and suggestions

Winter/Spring 2010: Standards group continue refining working draft text; excerpts circulated to relevant committees and offices
 for continued comment; Working draft available on web for comment from campus community, alumni, and broader public

Spring 2010: Notice/Request for Third Party Comment distributed

June 2010: Standards groups submit final versions of their self study sections

July and August 2010: Faculty co-chairs and administrative coordinators finalize self study

September 15, 2010: Self Study sent to visiting team

October 31-November 3, 2010: Visiting team at Bates



Late December 2010: Draft of visiting team report to Bates’ president for factual accuracy review

January 2011: Final visiting team report to sent to Bates

February 2011: Bates’ president invited to submit official response to final visiting team report

Winter/Spring 2011: Visiting team chair and Bates president meet with NEASC Commission on Higher Education; Commission
 notifies Bates of its action on accreditation
